A little history: The atomic tests are the origin of one of the nicknames given to Las Vegas, “Atomic City”, in order to attract tourists, who could come and observe the nuclear flashes from Las Vegas by getting up very early in the morning. Even today we can observe the traces of these tests on satellite views.
Over this period, 1000 tests were carried out at Mercury city, including 200 in the open air.
