What is the Las Vegas Sphere?
The Sphere Las Vegas, is an event venue located in Paradise, Nevada. Located on the east side of the Las Vegas Strip, it is co-owned by Sphere Entertainment Co. and Vici Properties.
Sphere Las Vegas - History in Brief
Resulting from a collaboration between the companies Madison Square Garden Company (parent company of Sphere entertainment Co.), and Las Vegas Sands (later purchased by Vici properties), the project was announced and started in 2018 with an initial budget estimated at 1.2 billion US dollars. The design is provided by the Populous group, also authors of the T-mobile Arena. Four years of construction will follow (2019 - 2023) with a final budget of $2.3 billion, making it the most expensive performance hall in Las Vegas when it opens. On September 29, 2023, the Sphere finally opens its doors for the preview of the residency of the Irish group U2 called, “U2:UV Achtung Baby Live at Sphere”. Shortly after, the owners will broadcast their production called “Postcard From Earth”.
Sphere Las Vegas - Technical aspect
Outside
A technological marvel, the Sphere Las Vegas is one of a kind. They rise to a height of 368 feet and a width of 515 feet (the largest spherical building in the world). Its exterior is characterized by an LED screen of approximately 580 000 ft2 broadcasting, advertising, images, and a smiley face particularly appreciated by visitors. On special occasions other images are also broadcast.
Inside
The inside is accessible via the various entrances located at the base of the building, or via a footbridge connecting it to the Venetian Expo, located behind the Palazzo Hotel. Inside, visitors have the opportunity to walk around and explore the different technological showcases on display, such as robots, or the Sphere sound system. The building contains 9 floors, 4 of which are accessible mainly via escalators and elevators. Once arriving in the room with a capacity of 17,500 seats, visitors will face the real attraction of the room, its screen. The LED screen has a resolution of 16K (~173,000,000 pixels) and an area of 160 000 ft2, making it the largest LED screen in the world. Once seated, visitors will be able to enjoy another feature of the sphere, its sound system. The Sphere sound system consists of a spatial audio system capable of directing the sound like a stereo headset, but also of broadcasting multiple sounds to different locations in the room without disturbing others. This system makes it possible, for example, to broadcast several languages in different places in the room. Finally, the room contains a 4D system allowing odors or air to be diffused, reproducing the sensation of wind.

The Sphere Experience - Postcard From Earth: Our review.
The Sphere experience - Postcard from earth (Darren Aronofsky) – Is it worth it?
Considering the price of the show, many wonder if it is really worth paying such amounts to attend this show. Of course, the concept of money is different for each of us, but generally speaking, we will say that if you can buy the less expensive tickets, it is worth experiencing the experience. This for at least 3 reasons:
-This allows you to enter a building with unique technology in the world.
-The show itself is superior audio/video quality, to any cinema
-And some of you may only come to Las Vegas once in your life
How is the experience going? We tell you everything.
First of all you will enter the main hall of the Sphere where you can enjoy demonstrations of the Sphere technology or its bars.
For example, there are humanoid robots with which you can chat in several languages. A demonstration of the Sphere's ability to broadcast a program in several languages simultaneously, in the same room. The possibility of creating an avatar of yourself after being scanned, and the diffusion of a giant hologram.
After an hour the film will start for a duration of 50 minutes. It tells the story of 2 humans who had to leave the earth following the extinction of life. And they are asked to remember the history of life, and why they got there, so as not to repeat the same mistakes on the new planet where they are sent.
The first images are stunning with the seats vibrating according to the images and other special effects. Then, even if the images remain beautiful, the film runs out of steam a little towards the end. But we still had a good time.
The exit from the sphere occurs relatively quickly

Walking: If you are staying in the hotels located between the Flamingo and the Wynn, you are a maximum of 20 minutes walk from the Sphere.
Can I attend a show if I am afraid of heights?
The Las Vegas Sphere has a reputation for having very steep bleachers. And let's be honest, it's true. We've literally seen people paralyzed with fear when they approached the bleachers. On the other hand, it has worked out very well for other people who are afraid of heights and thought they wouldn't be able to attend a show in the Sphere.
If this is your case, we can give you the following advice:
- Reserve seats in sections 100
- The most impressive being the stairs, if you go to sections 200 to 400, choose seats at the bottom or top of the bleachers that are close to the exits in order to limit the movement on the stairs. You will see that once seated in your seat, the feeling of vertigo will be less strong.
- Take the elevators rather than the escalators which are also impressive.
- Be accompanied by someone who can reassure you and help you if necessary.
We hope that these few tips will be useful to you.
